The title, series name and the cover are all rather enigmatic, and not having read any summaries, I walked in as a blank slate.įor anyone that wants to remain as such, you have my full recommendation to jump into this book. I didn't know what to expect when I picked this book. However, there is a cliffhanger since Zephyr sees something leaving the hotel and I'd really like to find out how the story goes on further. As I understand it's only a first part of the story, but it can be read as a standalone book, I think, because the end is pretty much explanatory. I never thought it would come to this when I started reading the book. Some things were foreseeable, of course, but the events in the last chapters were surprising and shocking to me. And an even more unforeseen event happening in the end.Ĥ. But still, everything revolves around the hotel and the people living and working in it, and there is an unusual twist in the second half of the book. There is at least one character who comes from outside of the hotel and he is not in the picture since the beginning.

The plot reminded me sort of a sealed detective story, but not entirely. All of them were well-written, had their own character, some stood out more than others, but in general, all of them were in their places.ģ. I enjoyed the story being shown from various angles because it was interesting to see how little events that happened to a number of people were pieced together into a big horrifying disaster that took place in the hotel.Ģ. The story moves pretty quickly and it shows the events from the different character's points of view. But frankly with all the things happening, especially in the final chapters, I totally forgot about Brandon Jones (but no worries, it is still kind of explained what happened to him).ġ. I'm a big fan of detective stories and I was really happy to see a mystery to be unraveled in this book. So, right from the first chapter, there appears to be a mystery - where did Brandon Jones go? How could he have just disappeared from his suit without a trace? But then strange things start to happen in the hotel. He is younger, friendlier, and charismatic, so all the staff seems to like him instantly.

But then he suddenly disappears and a new manager is in - Sylvester Grey. The singer Zephyr is headed there to perform at her concert in several days, and the general manager Brandon Jones is on his toes to make everything perfect. Here is the infamous hotel Obsidian - modern, stylish, and luxurious. Reading the synopsis on Goodreads, I had a feeling the book was only going to be about the famous singer Zephyr and her exciting, full of manipulations life. I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review
